Shawn Layden, the previous head of Sony Interactive Leisure America, has revealed that he’s now joined up with Tencent as a strategic advisor.
Layden’s departure from Sony in 2019 was sudden and he didn’t give any purpose behind his determination to go away, disappointing many followers as he was popular with the PlayStation neighborhood. However, he later explained that he wanted to go out on top.
Now, the previous PlayStation govt has introduced on his LinkedIn profile that he hopes to help Tencent “deeper their actions” within the video games trade.
I’m delighted to share that I’ve lately joined Tencent Video games as a strategic advisor. On this new position, I hope to advise, help, and assist the crew at Tencent as they deepen their actions and commitments throughout the trade to which I’ve devoted nearly all of my profession.
We’re at an epoch defining second in gaming and interactive leisure. There are numerous attainable roads forward however only some are profound, broadening, inclusive, edifying, inspiring, and/or sustainable. I’m thrilled to proceed this journey of discovery and thank Tencent for the chance.
In associated information, Jeff Ross, the sport director behind Days Gone, admitted that Layden’s departure from Sony killed any chances of a sequel materialising.
